Do you have any interesting scenarios that you would like to share with the BCBA community?  Need advice or just a sanity check - post it and let's all figure it out together.

Just did my mite counts yesterday.  Counts were zero.   I always worry when  I get a zero mite count.  I did the Randy Oliver method using Dawn Ultra(clear) solution.  Is a low mite count typical for this time of year because of winter brood break?   Does anyone change up their mite count testing method?

I put a small swarm in an empty, new medium nuc about two weeks ago.  On day two they started tumbling out and dying.  Two weeks later the hive was pretty much empty with all the dead bees outside.  I am going to assume that the bees got into pesticide somewhere.

My concern now is reusing the hive and frames.  They did begin drawing comb on the frames before they all died.

I do not want to contaminate the next bees that I put in that hive.

Should I re-use the frames at all?  Should I use as is, with the partially drawn comb, or should I scrape them and reuse?
