Is it normal to see festooning bees on top of the sugar block to the insulation under the outer cover? Just lifted the insulation and observed this. Bees are all over the sugar block and active outside of the hive today (temps in 50's).
I’d say this is pretty normal, the shim is the most comfortable place in the hive- warmest and easy access to sugar. That's where I would be if I were a bee. All kidding aside on warmer days >mid 50s the bees will break cluster and move around. /k
