I have speaking and participating in with the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association queen cell program

The MCBA of PA’s Queen Cell program is designed to improve the genetics of bees in your apiary. We select from the best queens available (locally derived queens or breeder queens). These queens are used to produce queen cells that are provided to members in good standing, for a nominal fee.

The cells are primarily being made available to MCBA members but when extra's cells are available, I have offered to help make them available to our members.    We may have 3-5 days of short lead time so you will need stay on top of these communications in this forum post.

To that end; if you are interested in gaining access to these genetics - subscribe to this topic.   I will be updating this and only this topic with availability details.  These cells may likely be very limited so it is imperative to subscribe and check immediate notification via email.  The way that works is when an update to this thread is added( notification to availability), you will receive an immediate email update with the details.   I just ask if you respond to the thread and let me know if you are interested (don't leave personally info like telephone.  I will just response to the topic and the cells will assigned FirstComeFirstServe with a limit of 2 per person.   Cells are typically $10 and virgins are $25 .

Availability and distribution dates:  these will typically be on Sundays April-July but expect changes.

    Respond if you any questionsw

How to Install a Queen Cell in a queenless nuc - YouTube

Before requesting queen cell(s) available for distribution, can you answer “yes” to all questions:

    ✓ Do I really need a cell – hive/nuc is queenless?

✓ Can I pick up at the time and place listed in the alert?

✓ Am I prepared to install the cell as soon as possible? It cannot wait until the next day. Temperature and humidity are important

    Pick-up and Transportation

Be on time and bring cash.  Bring the following for transportation:

✓ Protective container deep enough to keep the cell upright (insulated coffee/Styrofoam cup).

✓ Plastic bag with warm water in the bottom to keep cell warm (body temperature) but not wet.

✓ Cotton balls, tissues, or cushy material to keep the cell protected.  Cell needs to breath – do not put against plastic bag.

Simple.   You have the ability to subscribe to specific topics in the forum to receive updates on your registered email.

    For example:

At the top of the topic of interest -Simply select subscribe!

When you subscribe, emails will send to your user email address which I think is your login name too.
