    Hi Folks,

I live in Yardley, and keep my hives there.  I inspect them weekly, and would be happy to work with any newer beekeepers who feel that they need some hands on experience.  I will post dates and times in this topic each week.  If you are interested please text me at (516) 527-2883

Next Inspection-  June 1 at 8am. Please cal 516-527-2883 for the address.

I would greatly appreciated the help of any senior beekeepers .  Working one on one with newer beekeepers has proven to be invaluable

For anyone who would like some practice in inspecting hives, I will be doing hive inspections on Saturday at 9 AM in my apiary . You will have an opportunity to do a hands-on inspection of a hive with some assistance. I expect to be done by 10 AM. If you are interested, please text me at 516–5 27–2883. My name is Nat Bosco.

Address is 355 Saly rd, Yardley

you will need to bring your own veil and gloves.

I joined Nat Bosco and two other beekeepers at Nat's place to inspect his hives today.  We shifted some resources between hives, and confirmed the presence of queens in several hives by noting eggs and larvae of brood frames.  We spotted the queen in a swarm hive and marked her for easier identification in the future.  The bees were very well behaved.  I discussed a problem I am having with one of my hives - big black ants congregating on top of the inner lid.  A solution which I will implement will be to put cans around the 4 legs of my hive stand and add oil (mineral oil) into the cans to create moats to block the ants from ascending to the hive.  Thanks for the advice Nat and for a great morning inspecting the hives!

It was great fun having you, Vic and Jim here. I’m glad that everyone is able to get something out of the experience. Look forward to seeing how great your hives turn out.
