Hogg Half Comb question

    Has anyone successfully used the Hogg Half Comb system?  I decided to try it this year.  I put it on a productive colony two weeks ago.  They have ZERO interest in building comb in this.

    Do I pull it off today & replace with a honey super?

    Thanks!

    Kristin,

    I have tried it in the past too.  I am not and expert by any means infact I feel like I half failed in my attempt.   I have Ross rounds and was able to successfully get some capped but from my understanding and prior sessions listening and learning from Herman Danenhower; honey flow timing is very important.   Listen to this and it may help;

    Good luck - Many people are very successful with this system.

    Just watched the video. Very informative!! There was another one that came up that was provided by Frederick Dunn. He showed the Ross Rounds. I might try these.

    Thanks to Kristen for bringing this up

    Thanks - watched the videos, I think the combo of cool, rainy weather, and that I put it on a little late made this an unsuccessful attempt.  But now I have the equipment for spring 2025!

    Hello. I watched the videos on this and decided to give it a try. Installed on May 31. Opened for inspection on June 7. The bees got right to work and there is drawn comb in almost every box. Some are already 1/2 full. So far so good. See pictures.
